Everyone welcome: City’s future energy leaders learn how to ACT at home

Calling all Capetonians to visit the City’s Let’s ACT at Home Exhibition. Schools and learners across the metro are especially encouraged to experience how to live in a future-fit home. The exhibition is an interactive learning space where visitors can step into a real-life example of net-zero carbon living and discover practical ways to reduce energy use at home. Grade 6 and 7 learners from Riverside Primary in Athlone visited the space earlier this week for a tour linked to their Natural Sciences curriculum.
‘During the visit, learners can tour the Let’s ACT at Home exhibition space, where they can explore practical demonstrations of how households can reduce energy consumption, lower costs and take meaningful climate action. The exhibition showcases solutions, such as energy-efficient lighting, water-saving technologies, waste reduction solutions, insulation and smarter appliance use. These practical examples help learners understand how small changes at home can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient city. Our Let’s ACT campaign drives the message that small actions can lead to big changes. We all have the power to make a positive contribution to our schools, homes, workplaces, neighbourhoods and communities.
‘The exhibition is part of the Cape Town Future Energy Festival, a city-wide movement to empower residents in their energy choices. By providing residents with knowledge, practical tools and inspiring experiences, the festival is helping households while creating awareness about the changing energy landscape and climate impacts. By reaching diverse groups of people and communities across Cape Town, we can ensure everyone contributes to our shared energy future. The exhibition is open to the public, but schools are encouraged to contact our team to book a tour,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Alderman Xanthea Limberg.
